Colorado Music Festival Biography

Under the artistic vision of Maestro Peter Oundjian, the Colorado Music Festival thrills audiences of more than 20,000 each season with programming that embraces the most beloved classical music repertoire, while integrating world music and the works of exciting modern composers. Balanced programming performed by exceptional musicians has earned CMF ten ASCAP awards for "Adventuresome Programming of Contemporary Music," and the kudos of the press and public alike.

Sunday evenings feature the CMF Chamber Orchestra, Saturday bring chamber music ensembles, and Thursday and Friday evenings showcase the full CMF Festival Orchestra. Throughout the season, emerging talent from Europe, Asia, South America and the U.S. join CMF musicians in performances that inspire and engage concertgoers of all ages.

"A night like this makes one truly appreciate the value of an organization like the CMF to the community. It is indeed a summer gem."

Located in a 10,000 sq. ft. former church building at 200 E. Baseline Rd. in Lafayette, Colorado, the Center for Musical Arts (CMA) employs over 40 professional teaching artists, serving approximately 500 students weekly, and thousands of annual concert audience members. A full member of the National Guild for Community Arts Education, the CMA turns no one away, with its Heartstrings Program of tuition assistance and musical instrument bank. CMA students primarily come from Lafayette, Louisville, Erie, Broomfield, Superior, Boulder, Niwot, Longmont, Brighton, Thornton, Northglenn, and Arvada. Key CMA beliefs:
• The significant power of music to enrich human existence and create community.

• The creative potential of every individual.
• Access to music for all members of the community.
