About this concert
French born sisters Mie and Millie Debry formed the Soap Girls in Cape Town, South Africa while still at school, landing a deal with Universal Records followed by four South African hit singles and a hit album.
Disillusioned by the lack of creative control offered to them on a major label the band decamped to New York before returning home armed with a new punk/alt rock/glam sound bringing to mind the best of Hole, L7 and Nirvana.
The band have since continuously toured worldwide, gaining notoriety for their intense, raw and sometimes confrontational live shows and have independently released a whole host of great singles and albums including the brilliant ?Society?s Reject? and current album ?In My Skin?
Support is from TQ locals Skin Lick whos ace single ?Anti Gravity Girl? has been on heavy rotation at THH. Think Garbage meets Placebo.
The Soap Girls live show is a must see, high energy reminder of the power and rebelliousness of rock ?n? roll.

The SoapGirls were awesome! They even posed for pictures with myself and my friend. Wynfield's was a dive and had an awful stench. The only redeeming quality was that they got the SaopGirls to play at their small venue making the show personal and intimate.

While the world stands still, the fearless French-born sisters Millie and Mie have persevered at the polar opposite, embracing 2020 and news of cancelled tours to deliver over 100 live-steamed shows and counting, taking fans on a raucous virtual worldwide tour, from country to country, theme to theme, and with not one set, costume or theme the same [view on YouTube]. Now in 2021 and with their virtual tour still in full-swing, The SoapGirls took to the idyllic beaches of Cape Town and a once-thriving beach-side entertainment venue to film ‘Heart In Bloom’, blending encapsulating choreography and cinematic visuals, to accompany hook-filled melodies, over driving musicianship. The start of what’s to come as the debut track from their long-awaited fourth album.
