About this concert
Rebekah Reid is a vibrant and versatile violinist, composer and loop pedal artist, specialising in classical and jazz repertoire and improvisation. Known for her distinct style combining virtuosic violin performance with live looping and electronics, Rebekah effortlessly blends influences from jazz, classical music, minimalism, hip hop, world music, folk and electronic dance music. Reid has taken her solo live loop pedal set across the UK, with notable performances at the Portico Library in Manchester supporting Matana Roberts and Kelly Jayne Jones, Manchester Art Gallery for Sofar Sounds, and the Royal Albert Hall – the Elgar Room in 2019 and 2021. Alongside solo performing, Rebekah tours the UK and international stages extensively with orchestras, jazz ensembles and pop bands, including with Soul II Soul, Angelique Kidjo for EFG London Jazz Festival, Stormzy at the 2023 Brit Awards and the Chineke! Orchestra on their USA & Canada tour. Rebekah is also leader and manager of Täpp – a dynamic and experimental loop pedal music collective. The ensemble released their debut album independently in 2021, with their second single ‘Never Knew Why’ being picked up by Whistledown Productions in 2022, and used in the radio series ‘Please Protect Abraham’, first broadcast on BBC Radio 4 in December 2022.
