About this concert
Keaper are heading out on their second ever east coast tour in celebration of their brand new debut album ‘Waking Dream’. Based in Melbourne, Keaper are a ‘dreamo’ audiovisual project recognisable by their introspective lyrics, melodic instrumentation and dreamy atmosphere. The band draws from 90s alt-rock, midwest emo and shoegaze, citing artists such as DIIV, Smashing Pumpkins and The Sundays as inspiration for their music.  The band are so excited to be stopping at The Great Club in Sydney, and sharing the stage with old friends Sunder and new friends Euterpe.  Hailing from Sydney’s south west, Sunder began its humble journey as nothing more than a group of friends bonding over a shared love of music and art. Having been described as ‘warm, heartfelt’ and ‘shoegazey’ by Triple J’s Claire Mooney, the band is focused on pushing the boundaries of their ‘blend of indie rock and soul’ whilst highlighting the influences that shape its foundation. Euterpe are an art-rock, post-punk blend band, living on Gadigal land. They describe themselves as ‘the sound of covering up something gross with lace and bergamot’, characterised by their latest release: ‘The Amnion’ EP. Euterpe never leaves one at ease, even in their most intimate moments. Keaper & friends would like to acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land, the Gadigal people of the Eora nation, on which this event will take place. We pay our respects to the Elders of the community, their ancestors and descendants. Sovereignty was never ceded.

Keaper Biography

Hailing from the suburbs of Melbourne, Keaper is a ‘dreamo’ audiovisual project borne from the shared artistic dreams of vocalist/guitarist Ameya and bassist Julia during their university days. With the addition of classmates Austin and Sam, Keaper’s distinct sound and live performance has since come to life with layers of fuzzy hooks and articulate, driving percussion. Drawing inspiration from artists like DIIV, The Smashing Pumpkins and The Sundays, the band’s songs are recognisable by their pensive lyrics, melodic instrumentation and the introspective atmosphere they create. Doubling as a visual art project, Keaper combines artforms to provide a unique style of escapism reflective of the band’s interest in cinema, illustration and photography.

The past two years have been massive for Keaper - the band has released their first single plus two EPs, and played a ton gigs including a recent east coast tour with stops in Sydney, Wollongong, Byron, Gold Coast and Canberra. Keaper have performed in beloved Australian venues including Federation Square, The Toff In Town, Volta, Cherry Bar, Vinnie’s Dive (QLD), Cambridge Hotel (NSW), and shared stages with artists such as Alex Lahey, The Grogans, Mylk, Soft Powder and Goon Gremlins.

“The band have already released a small collection of EPs and singles that flirt with a myriad of influences to create one introspective whole.” - Beat Magazine

“Indeed Australia is (and always will be) a big hub for emerging bands of a high caliber,
but Keaper sounds like they're at the forefront of the new breed of acts.” - It’s All Indie

“Day By Day is a dream for any bedroom-indie-shoegaze fans. The sound is something
they got so right last year, but this time around you can hear them starting to push the limits with their most triumphant and anthemic song to date” - Homegrown Sounds
