The Slackers vonden elkaar in Brooklyn in 1991 en zijn sindsdien een van de meest opmerkelijke ska bands van New York. Al 33 jaar toert de band de hele wereld rond met hun mix van ska, reggae en soul en hebben ze vijftien albums en talloze singles uitgebracht, van ‘Better Late Than Never’ tot het zelfgetitelde album ‘The Slackers’. In 2022 kwam het laatste album ‘Don’t Let The Sunlight Fool Ya’ uit, dat al snel naar de top van de Amerikaanse Billboard-charts shoot. Momenteel werken ze aan nieuwe muziek en een remake van hun album ‘Close My Eyes’ ter gelegenheid van het twintigjarig bestaan van het album. The Slackers wisten de afgelopen jaren wereldwijd heel wat harten te veroveren met hun fantastische blazers, rotsvaste ritmesectie en ijzersterke arrangementen. In september is MEZZ aan de beurt!

The Slackers Biography
One of New York's most notable ska bands, the Slackers formed in Brooklyn in 1991 and have played the world over many times since. Their first release was an eponymous self-released album, distributed by Moon Records in 1993 on cassette. Their first real debut is "Better Late Than Never" on moon ska records. Coming out in 1996, this album saw a movement to more traditional ska music, as opposed to their earlier two-tone and garage influences. It was produced by Victor Rice, a noted ska/reggae producer.
The next album released was Redlight, on Hellcat Records in 1997. This album solidified their sound and further fixed the line-up.
The band released its latest album, entitled Self Medication, in May of 2008.
