Ynys

Ynys (Island) is the project of Dylan Hughes, ex-Race Horses and Radio Luxembourg.

As a live 5-piece band their ambitious sound palette combines melancholic harmonies over a soundtrack of 80’s sequencers, 70’s string machines, and fuzz guitars.

From Aberystwyth, on the west coast of Wales, Ynys released their debut album on Libertino Records in late 2022. An album of off-kilter catchy and melancholic psychedelic pop songs, the release generated a buzz with glowing reviews across the likes of The Line of Best Fit, Brooklyn Vegan, and God Is In the TV, followed up with appearances at Other Voices, FOCUS Wales, and SWN, alongside a long list of summer festivals.

Their unique adventurous playful song craft have led to singles of the week on Amazing Radio, BBC Radio Wales, and live sessions for BBC 6 Music's Marc Riley show, and Amazing Radio.

Ynys' debut album was shortlisted for the Welsh Music Prize 2023 and work on a new album is underway which is planned for release in 2024.
