GRIZZY

Born Adrius Austin, Grizzle Aka GrizzY is a Bahamian rapper/songwriter and Marine Mechanic with the Bahamian Military known as the Royal Bahamas Defense Force .(RBDF) Grizzy was born in Nassau, Bahamas but spent his earliest years in Harbour Island, Bahamas. At the age of 8 he was brought back to Nassau. He joined his school’s band playing the trumpet and his favorite instrument, the snare drum. In his teenage years, Grizzy fell in love with hip hop and along with writing poetry began turning journal entries into rap songs, chronicling his life. He also began to rebel and seemed to be on his way to destruction. Until 2001, when his mother was diagnosed with cancer. This came as a devastating blow to him especially because a few years prior, he lost an aunt to the very same disease. He made an effort to change and to be the rock his mother needed. His mother’s sickness began to take its toll on him and he started to fall back into his old ways. Grizzy’s mother was determined to not let him end up being another statistic, another victim of the streets. She begged him for her sake to change and to focus his energy on something positive. At her request, he enrolled in the military. Though Grizzy began to work towards being on the straight and narrow and creating a better life for himself, some tragic and life changing events occurred in his life which led to him to the realization that music is his purpose here on earth. He lost his grandfather, whom he was very close to and subsequently, his 3 best friends. It was a hard pill to swallow, which also came as a devastating wake up call. In 2009, he lost the first to a tragic motorcycle accident and wasn't able to attend the funeral do to circumstances beyond his control. Not being able to say goodbye to his friend was a really painful time. In 2010, the second was killed, eerily, the exact same way. A motorcycle accident that almost claimed the life of Grizzy as well. Grizzy and his friend was riding on his motorcycle when a drunk driver collided with them head on. His best friend was killed instantly. Doctors said it was a miracle that he survived & that he was supposed to be paralyzed from the waist down. The accident was so bad that Grizzy was left in a coma for 2 days. He could not walk for almost a year after the accident. Grizzy fully recovered physically but was still mentally and emotionally stricken by the sudden loss of 2 of his 3 closest friends. At this point he hardly spoke and as an escape from hurt he felt threw himself into his childhood passion, Music. He began writing lyrics once more as it was one of his only forms of communication. In 2011, Grizzle recorded his first two singles "Rookie Of The Year" & "Dead & Gone" a tribute to his lost friends. The singles took the liking of radio station manager, Deon Morris of 104.5fm and was accepted in the rotation at the station. That same year, the progression of his music career came bittersweetly, as his third best friend became a victim of a homicide. He was murdered in cold blood. The tragedy haunted him because 2 weeks before his best friend was killed, they were on his porch one morning and his friend said to him ‘it's just us left.” Grizzle went back in a state of deep depression but with the help of his older cousin Jay (Grizzy’s advisor), his producer and the support of friends, he was able to pull through. The whole tragedy inspired him to write a single called "Just Let It Go" talking about pain & struggles people face in life. Later he wrote another single called "I Love My Life". He began posting his music on Facebook & created a fan page where he started to build his fan base. The support, views and words of encouragement gave Grizzle the motivation to continue to push forward with his career and to work towards being the best he could be. The end of 2011 was a pivital moment in Grizzle’s career as he began working on a song called "Mesmerized" a hot Hip Hop & Rnb track. His producer loved the song so much that he called up one of his already established artists by the name Sammi Starr to sing the hook. It was that moment that truly inspired Grizzle to take his music to the next level. The song hit the airwaves of 94.9fm & 100jamz in 2013. It was highlighted on the “ hate it or rate it” radio show on 100jamz where it held the #1 spot for two weeks. So far, Grizzle has been successful in obtaining features from local artist such as: Sammi Starr, Rumah,Julien Believe, Judah Tha Lion, T-Bo Brice and a few more. Grizzle is currently working on his debut album, called "GrizzYLife" Beyond Tragedy. It is comprised of 16 songs all dealing with life and the struggles people face every day. He is using music to tell the true story of his life, from his triumphs to his pain and downfalls. Grizzle is determined to inspire people with his music through life lessons he’s experienced firsthand. As of 2014 Grizzy has teamed up with OF Ent. music group. The group itself is comprised of (2) Engineers (Producer Brikz & Ovadosa) (5) Artist (Tbo Brice,GrizzY,Slawta,Casper,Chosen). Already Grizzy is making his steady contributions to the group. GrizzY entered the Heineken Artist Challenege march 15 of 2014 after hearing the broadcast on 100Jamz a local radio station. The winner of the competition would open up concert for interntional MMG star Meek Mill On the 17th of April. Unexpectedly on the 6th of April Grizzy got a call from one of heinekens promoters imforming him that he was chosen as one of the 6th semi final contestants out of as many as 200 other local artist. On the 12th of april Grizzy dominated the semi final round winning the opportunity that would help elevate his career to the next level. April 17th, 2014 Grizzy`s "Grizzle" aka "Grizzy" has a double meaning. Rizzle in the urban slang dictionary means real. The G stands for God & Gangsta. It means Grizzle is a real G and God's real. He coined the term "GrizzYLife" to represent his brand because his music is about his life, his journey and the a story he has to share with the world.
