Excellent show! Teddy sang some country chestnuts mixed with some from his "pop" era along with one from his mum and dad "I'll Regret All in the Morning." He had a sharp band with him--standup bass, keyboards, pedal steel (and electric guitar) who did a great job. Teddy told some great stories about the vagaries of the music business foregrounding his interest in the cleverness of lyrics as something that first attracted him to country music. Cape Cinema is an intimate venue that harkens back to bygone eras.

Teddy Thompson Biography

The latest stop – and eighth album – in a career that has carried on the legacy of his parents, British folk-rock legends Richard and Linda Thompson, and found him collaborating with such artists as Rufus Wainwright, Rosanne Cash and Emmylou Harris, "My Love Of Country" follows 2020’s "Heartbreaker Please," called “buoyant, brilliant and soulful” by "Billboard. "

Over a 6-album body of work, Teddy has carved out his own music path, drawing inspiration from his familial British folk roots, and American folk, soul, country, pop,and rock.

In addition to "My Love of Country," Teddy released "Once More: Teddy Thompson and Jenni Muldaur Sing The Great Country Duets" on Sun Records on September 8, 2023. It is a 12-song collection of tear drop ballads and reflective mid-tempo songs previously recorded by George Jones and Tammy Wynette; Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn; and Porter Wagoner and Dolly Parton. Lavished with the sumptuous interlace of Teddy and Jenni’s harmony and lead vocals, these recordings embody the spirit of the originals, but are imbued with the duo’s distinct artistic identities and nuanced musical interplay.
