About this concert
In Need of Music Release Tour feat. Joey Waronker, Tim Lefebvre & Donny McCaslin In autumn 2024 DRIFTWD, the band around artistic duo architect Sam De Bock and musician Patricia Vanneste (Sohnarr, ex-Balthazar), will present their new album ‘In Need of Music’ on various Belgian stages. In addition to drummer Steven Van Gelder (Geike, Hydrogen Sea), guitarist Artan Buleshkaj (HAST, Anemic Cinema) and bassist-keyboardist Sander Verstraete (Warhaus, Tamino), they will exceptionally be joined by drummer Joey Waronker (Beck, R.E.M, Roger Waters), saxophonist Donny McCaslin (David Bowie, Sun Kil Moon) and bassist Tim Lefebvre (David Bowie, Elvis Costello, Sting). With eight musicians on stage, including two drummers and two bassists, the live shows promise to be a true adventure where experimentation, improvisation and energy are at the top of the list. For this tour, these American musicians specially cross the still waters of the Atlantic.

DRIFTWD Biography

DRIFTWD is the Belgian-American collaboration around artistic duo architect-musician Sam De Bock and musician-composer Patricia Vanneste (Sohnarr, Hydrogen Sea, ex-Balthazar).

With absolute world-class musicians on board such as Joey Waronker (Beck, Atoms For Peace, Thom Yorke, R.E.M.), Timothy Lefebvre (David Bowie, Elvis Costello, The Black Crowes, Sting) and Donny McCaslin (David Bowie, Dave Douglas, Sun Kil Moon), it should come as no surprise that this band aspires to a distinctive sound. The fusion of Vanneste's melodic expression and De Bock's structural, collage-like approach creates a unique harmony that finds common ground with Massive Attack, Tricky and Lamb as well as Mark Lanegan.

The pair released debut album 'Only Fighters Left Behind' in February 2020. It was met with rave reviews. The album proved to be an at times pitch-black examination of the consequences of loss, fear, inadequacy and their own disgust. Currently, DRIFTWOOD is putting the finishing touches to its second full album.
