Kumi

Kumi is a Kenyan based DJ/Producer who started producing electronic music back in 2008. Kumi’s fascination with electronic music began when he started listen to electronic music groups like Daft Punk, Air, Teenage Bad Girls and Morcheeba. Since then he has been able to create a unique style which is a mixture of electro pop and progressive house. Music In just a few years Kumi has built a reputation for creating euphoric and uplifting club anthems. So far, Kumi has released more than 20 tracks in different genres such as progressive house, trance, Electro House and Electronica. Kumi’s music has been released on international recoding labels such as Dansant (Sweden), Dbeatzion Records (Buenos Aires/ Argentina) Tainted Buddah (Spain), San Trincha Music (Australia), Dirty Fabric Digital (Chicago/U.S.A), and Pandora Digital (Portugal). Kumi’s music has also been featured in compilations CD’s such as Dansant Progressive Six by Dansant, Trouse! By Recovery House, Global Trance Music by U.M.A. Music Awards and Around the Globe, Vol. 7 - Progressive House Collection by Play This Records, plus many more other compilations CD’s. In 2014 Kumi released his third EP titled “Africa”. The Ep featured artists like Cr3w Teflon and Wanjira. The EP also featured a remix by BBC Radio 1 Future Star of 2014 Slow Graffiti. Kumi’s tracks can be heard, downloaded and bought from all the major digital music outlets such as i-Tunes®, Beatport® and Amazon®. KUMI’s tracks have received a great reception with over 450,000 plays – and counting – on SoundCloud® and 2 million plays on MySpace® DJing Kumi started Djing in 2011 after a chance meeting with DJ UV and Kenroots, the two encouraged him to stared Djing his own music. Since then KUMI has become a very popular DJ, he has played right after world class DJ’s such as Hard Rock Sofa, Edward Maya, Craig Connelly, Akcent, Berttski, Saint Peak and many more. In 2013 Kumi was nominated for the Best East African Dj, in the very first ever African Global Dj Awards. Kumi has also held to top spot on the Kenyan section of the DJ List and Topdeejays.com for the past few year, this has solidified his name as one of Kenya’s best electronic dance music DJ’s. Kumi has not only performed for Kenyan companies but along globally recognised companies such as MAC Cosmetics.
