Great to have them back. ?Mickey 9s are a raucous live band from Glasgow who play funky metallic dance music with sharp witted lyrics and a wild stage persona?? all true, the masked marauders of kicking punk funk they surely are, look out kids, they?re after a piece of Camden Town turf to take back to Scotland. They will most likely steal your hearts too. Impossible not to dance once they hit up the stage. ??a blend of meaty basslines, jaggy guitars, up-tempo rhythms and idiosyncratic vocals? This Danny Fingers - I?m getting Mink Deville NYC vibes, some school of Lou Reed travelogue talesof the Lower East Side etc in the wonderful ?The Girls Are All The Same, for example, although Johnny is actually from L.A. He also embraces electro pop nu soul with a fizzy pop element. All good?indeed sounds right sassy. Monkey Rumpus ? Wonky but engaging indie punk with echoes of The Fall and Beefheart, but shot through with the sinister energy of Fat White Family, good stuff.
