Laura Jean Biography
Revered for the striking beauty of her music and the strength of her piercing, intimate lyrics, Laura has been shortlisted three times for the Australian Music Prize and supported Lorde in Australia in 2023.
Laura's album Amateurs, released via Aussie independent institution Chapter Music, features Aldous Harding and Marlon Williams on backing vocals, and has had coverage from Pitchfork, The Guardian, NME, Brooklyn Vegan and elsewhere.
2018 album Devotion had superlative reviews from Pitchfork, Clash and Line Of Best Fit, and made it into end of year lists for Spin and Apple Music. 2014 allbum Laura Jean was recorded in the UK with John Parish (PJ Harvey, Perfume Genius, Aldous Harding), with backing vocals by Jenny Hval. Jenny returned the favour by featuring Laura on three songs from her 2019 album The Practise of Love.
Laura also sings on records by Australian icons Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever, Paul Kelly, the Drones and Adalita.
