About this concert
Will Overman:Making a living in music isnt easy, especially when it seems like listeners tastes change with the wind and algorithms are updated constantly, teasing artists with catching the elusive dollar. Central VA based singer-songwriter Will Overman however; has found a way to thrive in a seemingly constant state of transition. Will Overmans music can be best described as Country-Americana, but its not your typical Country-Americana sound. Sonically it is restless by nature, always searching for something new, and with Wills heart-worn lyrics and dynamic vocal delivery, it makes for a memorable mixture that is hard to place but easy to love.Born and raised in Virginia Beach, Will began writing songs after picking up the guitar in high school. He quickly built a regional following, and despite taking time to thru-hike the Appalachian Trail and move to Vermont for a semester of college, he capitalized on his move back to Virginia the following spring by forming the Will Overman Band. The Southern Rock n Roll influenced Americana project released two EPs and an LP, playing bar gigs and festival slots (Merlefest, Appaloosa Music Festival, Rooster Walk) up and down the East Coast until in the spring of 2017, when Will graduated from UVA and the band decided to go their separate ways.Abby Hamilton:Born and raised in Nicholasville, KY, artist-to-watch Abby Hamilton is in the midst of a breakout year following the release of her acclaimed debut album, #1 Zookeeper (of the San Diego Zoo). Released this past fall via Blue Gown Records a new imprint run by WhizzBangBAMs Ian Thornton (Tyler Childers) in partnership with Virgin Music the album was produced by Justin Craig and Duane Lundy and further establishes Hamilton as one of musics most intriguing new voices. Of the record, American Songwriter praises, infectious introducing the acclaimed songsmiths captivating blend of folk and indie rock, while Holler declares, one of the most refreshingly out of step voices in country music has made one of the years most genuinely brilliant and beautiful records and Wide Open Country proclaims, channels a universal relatability that will aid anyones journey of self-discovery and healing. In just the past few years, Hamilton has garnered a reputation as an engaging live performer and musician and recently made her television debut performing on CBS Mornings Saturday Sessions series. She has also opened for artists such as Tyler Childers, Deer Tick, Shakey Graves, Wynonna Judd, Blackberry Smoke, Kelsey Waldon and The Mountain Goats and performed at several major festivals including Bonnaroo, AmericanaFest, Railbird, Luck Reunion and more.

Abby is ALWAYS great. I'm not a fan of this type venue. Focus was on bar and food, not the artist. Was very unorganized. ☹️

Her long-anticipated second EP, “Afraid of the Dark,” is bound to appease Hamilton’s avid fan base, perfectly encapsulating her unique sound that feels just as comfortable in the Appalachian mountains as it does in a whiskey-soaked bar room in the city. She spent months in a hollow in Prestonsburg, Ky., crafting songs that tell stories inspired by true events about hope, home, and young love. It’s a genre-bending folk-rock experience that cements her place as one of the region’s most interesting young and up-and-coming songwriters.
