About this concert
Avec la sortie de Changing Places en 2003, le norvégien Tord Gustavsen a présenté un nouveau son qui a attiré l'attention du monde entier, un exploit extraordinaire compte tenu de la riche histoire du piano jazz.
Il se concentre sur le lyrisme dans une approche dépouillée où la beauté et l'intensité émotionnelle sont unies. Il compose la plupart du matériel de son groupe, des compositions mémorables qui font écho à ses jours passés à jouer à l'église.
Sur son neuvième album Opening (2022), le trio de piano explore l'idée d'être ouvert aux forces qui vous entourent et de les laisser inspirer ce que l'on joue.
Dix nouvelles compositions de Gustavsen sont accompagnées d'œuvres des compositeurs norvégiens Geirr Tveitt et Egil Hovland.

Tord Gustavsen Biography
Tord Gustavsen, a jazz pianist for a few years has been a renowned personality of the Norwegian music. He has been a pilar of many projects involving some best Norwegian musicians, such as: Silje Nergaard, Siri Gjare, Kristin Asbjornsen, or Live Maria Roggen.
He shows an ability to combine history of jazz with Nordic ambience and lyrical beauty, which has an intriguing influence on contemporary jazz scene.
In 2003 Gustavsen, with Harald Johnsen (bass) and Jarle Vespestad (drums), released their first album "Changing Places". During a tour following this release, the musicians won appreciation of fans and critics.
Their next album "The Ground" was released in 2004, presenting a more mature music, but still melodious and romantic. Gustavsen, Johnsen i Vespestad play music which can be described as a mixture of Nordic, Carribean, gospel and blues sounds.
