In 2020 Ella collaborated with artist Gallant on her song "Expectations", which was
produced by Stargate and Remixed by R3hab. Collectively streaming + 5 Million, the song
became so successful, Tik Tok star Charli D'amelio posted a version of "Expectations" that
received over+ 38 Million views on Tik Tok .
After the success musically and artistically of “Expectations”, Ella continues to push her
creative boundaries, an artist who feels born in a different time, she wants to share truths
as authentically as possible and recent tracks like “Hard Lessons” and “ Maybelline” reflect
her growing confidence. “I can easily say falling in love for real for the first time, changed
everything about my writing. It made me look at myself in a whole new way. I always need
my music to say or question something real now. We all want to make the right choices,
have the right job, the fairytale love, skyscraper high confidence, the right amount of
success but reality exists in the grey and the nuance and I guess that's something I hope
people take away when they hear my music. That we all feel a little lost, a little behind, a
little too rough around the edges when you get close.”
A lover of words, her upcoming new EP (New Music Name) sheds light on the challenges
and joys of becoming your own person. “There's the you, you show to the world, and then
there's the version of you nobody really knows but only sees glimpses of. My music is a
commentary on that duality and what that can mean for young people struggling to find
themselves.”
