Antonio Cortesi Biography
A graduate in cello and chamber music with highest honors, Antonio Cortesi has embarked on a varied and out-of-the-box career. Trained first in Italy and then in England, the Netherlands and Spain, he has competed in masterclasses with some of the most influential contemporary cellists (D. Geringas, N. Gutman, G. Gnocchi, R. Wallfisch and H. J. Jensen).
Passionate about social media and the digital world, he has created a vibrant community of music lovers and uses his channels to share his personal approach.
Since 2020 he has been an official Gewa artist and since 2023 an endorser for the new Gewa Novita 3.0 electric cello.
He has performed with numerous orchestras and chamber groups without ever taking away space from contaminations with the world of theater and dance as well as original music projects, collaborating with director Simone Toni, choreographer Sofia Nappi, and writer Giuliano Scabia.
He has recently worked with artists such as Chet Faker, Luca Longobardi, Emiliano Blangero and Mattia Vlad Morleo without forgetting forays into the world of pop.
He plays a 1926 Custode Marcucci cello courtesy of the Fondazione Teatro Rossini in Lugo, Ravenna.
His first original project is entitled A Delicate Revolution, followed by a series of reworks created together with some of the most interesting sound designers to composers of neoclassical Italian music.
