About this concert
Moes Alley presents an epic Country, Honky-Tonk double bill with Sam Morrow and Ellis Bullard plus special guest Mike Hellman! Thursday, June 20thDoors: 7pm / Show: 8pm$25 in advance / $30 day of the show21+SAM MORROWFive albums into an acclaimed career, Sam Morrow has carved out a sound that exists somewhere outside of genre and geography. Its his own version of modern-day American roots music: a mix of roadhouse rock & roll, bluesy R&B, and country-fried funky-tonk, driven forward by groove, grease, and guitars. Its also a sound that owes as much to the road where Morrow spent most of the past decade on tour, supporting albums like Concrete By On Gettin Down as the various places hes called home. This is music for the fast lane. Music for empty highways. Music for people who, like Morrow, always seem to find themselves in transit. I feel like Im searching for something, he says. Ive been on some kind of journey. Maybe I dont know what Im looking for, exactly, but Im keeping my eyes open.On The Ride Here marks the latest leg of that journey. Morrow takes us along for the ride, singing in a laidback Texas drawl about highway haunts (Thunderbird Motel), peyote trips in the Mojave Desert (Searching For Paradise), and the glamor and grind of the open road (Hired Gun). On The Ride Here offers more than roadside ephemera and travelogue tales, though. Morrow isnt just focused on the drive these days; hes interested in the destination, too, and a number of these songs deal with the hard lessons and new perspectives that come with rest, reflection, and time spent at home.ELLIS BULLARDEllis Bullard is a True-Blue Honky Tonk experience that truly lives their songs. In 2022 they provided support for a ton of big movers in the Music scene. Acts like Moe Bandy, Tracy Byrd, Kevin Fowler, Paul Cauthen, Mike & The Moonpies, Shinyribs, and many more. Ellis was mentioned on Joe Rogan Experience as one of the best Music shows in Austin. Several times throughout 2022 and was featured on the Kill Tony Podcast as well as Hans Kim Podcast. Ellis released a debut album, Piss-hot Freightlining Country Music, which has had press coverings from publications like, Saving Country Music, Galleywinter Live, Voyage Austin Magazine and many more. Since the release, the record is approaching 500K organic streams in less than a year, and is gaining traction daily. The lead song off the album, Biloxi By Two , was named one of the best Singles of 2022 next to Kaitlin Butts, Willie Nelson, Lyle Lovett, 49 Winchester and other great artist, by Saving Country Magazine. MIKE HELLMANMike Hellman is a country and americana troubadour with a bent for the unconventional. Slinging songs with substance, conviction and grit, hes on a mission to tell his truth and he insists on being heard. While firmly rooted in the rich country and blues traditions of his home state of Texas, he refuses to pander to clich and his sound is anything but predictable.

Sam Morrow Biography

Five albums into an acclaimed career, Sam Morrow has carved out a sound that exists somewhere outside of genre and geography. It's his own version of modern-day American roots music: a mix of roadhouse rock & roll, bluesy R&B, and country-fried funky-tonk, driven forward by groove, grease, and guitars.

It's also a sound that owes as much to the road — where Morrow spent most of the past decade on tour, supporting albums like Concrete & Mud and Gettin' By On Gettin' Down — as the various places he's called home. This is music for the fast lane. Music for empty highways. Music for people who, like Morrow, always seem to find themselves in transit.
