About this concert
Met als slogan Let’s Age On Stage verwelkomen we Gruppo Sportivo. De van oorsprong Haagse band, bekend van popklassiekers als Hey Girl, Beep Beep Love, Tokyo, Rock ’n Roll en Disco Really Made It, treedt sinds een aantal jaren weer met veel succes op. De bezetting bestaat nog altijd uit frontman en songwriter Hans Vandenburg (zang/gitaar) en de andere oerleden Peter Calicher (keyboards) en Max Mollinger (drums). Ook zijn de blikvangers Lies Schilp & Inge Bonthond (beiden zang) als de Bombitas van de partij. Tim Barning (bas) maakt sinds het album Great het gezelschap compleet. Alleen het voorprogramma was waardeloos: de zangeres staat als een lusteloze naaktslak te zingen: het ontbreekt aan elke attitude, en het duurde 50 min😪 Gruppo top; toegankelijke nieuwe nummers, ook veel zalige oude, Hans erg geestig en de dames stalen de show!

Gruppo Sportivo Biography
Gruppo Sportivo are a Dutch pop band, from The Hague, formed in 1976, who enjoyed some measure of international success in the late 1970s and 1980s. The frontman of the band, and writer of the material, is Hans Vandenburg.
Their first ever single was Out There In The Jungle (Polydor 1976), but the height of their career came with the two albums Ten Mistakes (1977) and Back To '78 (1978). They came to popularity just after the height of punk, but were regarded as more post-punk, veering more towards the mainstream pop. They were much admired for their live performances, which had great humour--even slapstick. Their most well-known song is Beep Beep Love (from the album Ten Mistakes), which enjoyed some success both in the UK and USA. The UK's Radio & Records voted them "Top Newcomer '78". In July 2006 the Japanese girl band PUFFY recorded a new version of Tokyo, originally recorded by Gruppo Sportivo in 1978.
