Tyler Bohinc Biography
Tyler Bohinc was born and raised in Madison, OH on a vineyard and vegetable farm just a few short minutes south of Lake Erie. Tyler began playing guitar at the age of 12 when he learned how to play Seven Nation Army by the White Stripes taught to him by his cousin Christian. After that, Tyler and his guitar were inseparable. Playing for hours a day, Tyler was self taught and formed punk and grunge bands even before high school and would play shows anywhere he could. Tyler joined jazz band in high school as a way to “get some guitar time in” during the school day. After being rejected initially for auditioning with a cover of Metallica’s “Fade to Black” and an improvised solo, Tyler learned how to read music and auditioned with Duke Ellington’s “In a Mellow Tone” and so began the deep obsession with jazz guitar. After two years playing guitar in the Madison High School jazz band, Tyler attended the University of Akron’s Jazz program with the help of a scholarship to pursue a degree in jazz guitar. Tyler lasted about a year until he eventually failed out. (Hey, school isn’t for everyone).
