About this concert
Tune in to two emerging performers taking on the big topics of our time, with powerful lyrics and storytelling, in our twice-monthly free concert series. Olympia Vitalis is a West London-based soul singer, building her name through her unique vocal style and distinctive songwriting. Having sung in a gospel choir for seven years, Olympia has developed her sound by drawing inspiration from improvisation and jazz vocal techniques. Her lyrics focus on subjects that are close to her heart, revolving around social, cultural and personal issues. Often poking fun at the fact that she doesn't write many love songs, Olympia prefers to talk about powerful issues, told using her distinctive vocals and multi-instrumental talents. London-born rapper Eneeks creates a mix of UK hip-hop, jazz and new soul, relaying his stories of love, loss, redemption, relationships, street life and everyday living. From his first live EP Dreammaker, Eneeks quickly gained attention from MTV and Giles Peterson’s BBC 6 radio show. The insightful rapper continues to make waves in the underground scene of London new soul hip-hop, using his music as a tool to share a story with his listeners.

Eneeks Biography

Described as the ‘The Truth’, Eneeks is the personification of ‘Passion, Soul and Depth’. In an evolution of sounds to create music that inspires hip hop lovers to think and feel, Eneeks continues to push himself creatively with new mixtape ‘Life As I Know It.’ Compared to the likes of Mos Def his old school flow and conscientious lyrics verbalise his life experiences.

Croydon Native, Eneeks birthplace continues to inspire his music today. Raised by West-Indian parents, the sounds of reggae and soul have helped to lay down the foundation for that soul-essence which is so prevalent within his work.
Idolising rap artists such as Rakim, 2 Pac and Nas, lyricists like these inspired Eneeks to pursue a career in music.

However this dream was not always as reality. Suppressing his love of music for a more tangible career in Television Production saw him write and produce short-films that were noticed by the likes of E4.

Now multi-skilled within the media, Eneeks returned to his love of music, realising the pursuit of something you truly love is worth more than monetary gain. Through this he was able to turn his fear of failing in the music industry into a persistence to succeed.

Finally arriving onto the music scene with ‘Soul Selling’ in 2006, the album displays his work ethic and importance of putting his heart and soul into every product he sells.
Fast-forward to 2011 Eneeks has truly found himself. Whilst in the process of producing his upcoming album Retro Soul, his emphasis on live acoustic brings back the notion that music is supposed to be an experience.

Like a painter, his music is his canvas with the purpose of illustrating a story for his listeners. As a true artist his music has no boundaries, not to be confined to the walls of neo-soul, his sound is subjective.
