About this concert
Featuring legendary Icelanders Sólstafir as they kick off the touring cycle for their 8thfull length studio album, which will be released on Century Media Records later this year. With a full catalog of truly exceptional timeless hits to perform, as well as some much-anticipated new music, the atmospheric Icelandic rock n´roll sound that is uniquely Sólstafir’s always delivers to those who bear witness to their epic sets that take you on a journey through the ice and snow, fire and lava and breathtaking soundscapes of their homeland. Special guests on this tour, are none other than Finland’s own Oranssi Pazuzu, to support their forthcoming album to be released on Nuclear Blast Records, also later this year. No strangers to the absolute extreme avantgarde, this tour will also serve as the beginning of the highly anticipated latest edition to their impressive catalog of music. Crossing multiple genres, Oranssi Pazuzu leave the listener wondering what the hell just happened as it is impossible not to be entranced by everything happening on stage, summoning feelings of dystopian uneasiness with intense satisfaction. Kicking off the evening from November 13th – November 24th, Hamferð from the Faroe Islands will open the evening with their haunting tales of doom that take the listener on a rollercoaster of emotions song after song. 6 years after their last release, this will be their first tour in support of their latest gem, ´Men Guðs hond er sterk´, out March 22nd on metal Blade Records, which is getting rave reviews from journaliasts and fans alike who have been anxiously awaiting new music from this rarely seen band. From November 26th – December 9th, Season of Mist Records artists HELGA will take over as support. Originally hailing from Dalarna, Sweden HELGA’s sound conjures visions of forests and nature in a magical blend of heaviness with a subtle dash of prog while combining both the Swedish and English language to the text.. Re-locating to the UK from her beloved forests, HELGA has proven to old fans and new fans alike, that she is a force to be reckoned with now that her band is complete. Their debut album “Wrapped In Mist”, released November of 2023, had critics and fans alike raving over this latest offering hailing it “eclectic music that lurks around the edges of black and post-metal”. The unique part of this package is that each of these bands sing in their native languages making it a true treat for the spectator who is likely not fluent in all 4 languages. It offers a chance to truly immerse oneself into the music and the performance while gaining your own inner perspective to the possibilities of each song. Sólstafir comments on the tour: “We are coming back with long shows, new songs, and old pearls. Ever since we played with Oranssi Pazuzu in Transylvania back in 2012 we have been fans of theirs, so we are very happy to be taking them on the road with us. Joining us as well, are our friends in Hamferð who we played with in their home country back in 2013. Hamferð will, and the other half will be our newest friends in HELGA.” Oranssi Pazuzu follow suit, stating: ”Shapes are forming in the horizon. We have finished oozing our upcoming sixth album and it will manifest itself in the fall of 2024. In order to feast on this, we are psyched to join Solstafir, Hamfred and HELGA on a tour across Europe in November and December. ” Hamferð add: “We are very excited to hit the road with our friends in Sólstafir and the amazing Oranssi Pazuzu. It's a musically diverse package which we are honoured to be a part of, and we can't wait to perform our new music on stages around Europe. We also can't wait to finally get to play in the UK, it has been long overdue!” HELGA, while subtly adding in one of their song titles to the statement, exclaim: “We are hugely excited to be joining Sólstafir and Oranssi Pazuzu on this run of European shows in support of our debut album ‘Wrapped in Mist’! We can’t wait to play this material live on our first European tour alongside such incredible musicians. It’s a big world…” www.solstafir.is www.oranssipazuzu.com www.hamferd.fo https://www.season-of-mist.com/bands/helga/ www.aflyingfox.com

November 28th 2023
As always amazingly Solstafir deliver. A was very happy for the great sound where I stood in the front. Normaly the song use to flew over your head so close to stage. But not this evening. After one hour it was a little dip when the wall of gitarrs went to massive. But just for ten minuts. What disappoint me most was that the great sound in the front got so bad when my favorite song Fjara was played in the end of the concert. But I would say the 4 was strong . 😃😃🥰🥰

Sólstafir Biography

SÓLSTAFIR are different. Their unique blend of metal with beautiful melodies, psychedelic moments and a strong undercurrent of classic / hard rock comes as varied and at times appealingly bizarre as the landscapes of their native Iceland. Their fifth full-length "Ótta" is the logical continuation of the musical course this four-piece adopted on the highly acclaimed forerunner "Svartir Sandar" (2011). Expect the unexpected, such as seduction by subtle strings or a hypnotic banjo. None of this was apparent when SÓLSTAFIR released their album debut "Í Blóði og Anda", which translates as 'In Blood and Spirit' in 2002. Instead of today's Icelandic gravel throated siren chants, frontman Aðalbjörn Tryggvason spit forth vitriolic crust-like vocals and the ripping guitars were clearly black metal inspired. Yet the band was as clearly identifiable back then as now and along their way with the next albums "Masterpiece of Bitterness" (2005) and "Köld" (2009) introducing new elements in a continuous evolution. SÓLSTAFIR's music is as much the product of Arctic blizzards as of red hot volcanic magma, erupting geysers, lush green pastures, and salty waves. With "Ótta" the Icelanders touch something ancient and timeless, while defying easy categorisation. This album needs to be heard again and again to peel back layers of details, each different and yet always revealing the same: great songs – all of them. The song titles of "Ótta" form a concept based on an old Icelandic system of time keeping similar to the monastic hours called "Eykt" ("eight"). The 24 hour day was divided into 8 parts of 3 hours each. The album starts at midnight, the beginning of "Lágnætti" ("low night"), continues through each Eyktir of the day and ends with "Náttmál" ("nighttime") from 21:00 to 0:00. This form of time keeping is more open than the relentless ticking of modern times, where each second is made to count, which turns humanity into cocks of the corporate clockwork. Now SÓLSTAFIR give you the antidote. Just lean back, close your eyes, take your time and lose yourself in this masterpiece called "Ótta"!
