About this concert
Featuring legendary Icelanders Sólstafir as they kick off the touring cycle for their 8thfull length studio album, which will be released on Century Media Records later this year. With a full catalog of truly exceptional timeless hits to perform, as well as some much-anticipated new music, the atmospheric Icelandic rock n´roll sound that is uniquely Sólstafir’s always delivers to those who bear witness to their epic sets that take you on a journey through the ice and snow, fire and lava and breathtaking soundscapes of their homeland. Special guests on this tour, are none other than Finland’s own Oranssi Pazuzu, to support their forthcoming album to be released on Nuclear Blast Records, also later this year. No strangers to the absolute extreme avantgarde, this tour will also serve as the beginning of the highly anticipated latest edition to their impressive catalog of music. Crossing multiple genres, Oranssi Pazuzu leave the listener wondering what the hell just happened as it is impossible not to be entranced by everything happening on stage, summoning feelings of dystopian uneasiness with intense satisfaction. Kicking off the evening from November 13th – November 24th, Hamferð from the Faroe Islands will open the evening with their haunting tales of doom that take the listener on a rollercoaster of emotions song after song. 6 years after their last release, this will be their first tour in support of their latest gem, ´Men Guðs hond er sterk´, out March 22nd on metal Blade Records, which is getting rave reviews from journaliasts and fans alike who have been anxiously awaiting new music from this rarely seen band. From November 26th – December 9th, Season of Mist Records artists HELGA will take over as support. Originally hailing from Dalarna, Sweden HELGA’s sound conjures visions of forests and nature in a magical blend of heaviness with a subtle dash of prog while combining both the Swedish and English language to the text.. Re-locating to the UK from her beloved forests, HELGA has proven to old fans and new fans alike, that she is a force to be reckoned with now that her band is complete. Their debut album “Wrapped In Mist”, released November of 2023, had critics and fans alike raving over this latest offering hailing it “eclectic music that lurks around the edges of black and post-metal”. The unique part of this package is that each of these bands sing in their native languages making it a true treat for the spectator who is likely not fluent in all 4 languages. It offers a chance to truly immerse oneself into the music and the performance while gaining your own inner perspective to the possibilities of each song. Sólstafir comments on the tour: “We are coming back with long shows, new songs, and old pearls. Ever since we played with Oranssi Pazuzu in Transylvania back in 2012 we have been fans of theirs, so we are very happy to be taking them on the road with us. Joining us as well, are our friends in Hamferð who we played with in their home country back in 2013. Hamferð will, and the other half will be our newest friends in HELGA.” Oranssi Pazuzu follow suit, stating: ”Shapes are forming in the horizon. We have finished oozing our upcoming sixth album and it will manifest itself in the fall of 2024. In order to feast on this, we are psyched to join Solstafir, Hamfred and HELGA on a tour across Europe in November and December. ” Hamferð add: “We are very excited to hit the road with our friends in Sólstafir and the amazing Oranssi Pazuzu. It's a musically diverse package which we are honoured to be a part of, and we can't wait to perform our new music on stages around Europe. We also can't wait to finally get to play in the UK, it has been long overdue!” HELGA, while subtly adding in one of their song titles to the statement, exclaim: “We are hugely excited to be joining Sólstafir and Oranssi Pazuzu on this run of European shows in support of our debut album ‘Wrapped in Mist’! We can’t wait to play this material live on our first European tour alongside such incredible musicians. It’s a big world…” www.solstafir.is www.oranssipazuzu.com www.hamferd.fo https://www.season-of-mist.com/bands/helga/ www.aflyingfox.com

Can't help but feel lucky I was there. Sound quality in the venue left a bit to be desired, but would I go see them again? Darn tootin'. We called for an encore, and they eventually came back out and unleashed the most violent, noise assaulting, groove forsaking beast you could ever dream of; hell of a denouement. Both bands, actually, were great live acts—Insect Ark are in their element up on a stage.

Oranssi Pazuzu Biography

“Oranssi Pazuzu conjures sounds from the dark corners of space and mind.” The band was formed in 2007 by Jun-His (vocals, guitar) and Ontto (bass guitar), who started jamming with Korjak (drums), and Evill (synthesizers, organ, effects) in order to travel into uncharted musical territories. Very soon Moit (guitar) completed the lineup and Oranssi Pazuzu, The Demon of the Wind with the Colour of Cosmic Energy, was born. During it’s initial months the band wrote songs collectively, fusing together various influences from space rock to black metal, to capture different states of mental cosmos. These early songs were recorded by Sami Jormanainen in Korjak’s family cabin in the late summer of 2008 and released as the group’s debut album Muukalainen puhuu by Violent Journey Records in April 2009. In 2009-2010 Oranssi Pazuzu played shows around Finland and continued to write music that twisted towards more metallic and aggressive moods. In September 2010 they played first concerts outside Finland in Germany and the Netherlands. In November a split album with friend’s band Candy Cane was released as a co-operation of two labels Firebox and Verdura Records. Kosmonument, their second full length album, was recorded in the old cold Karhu Manor in March 2011. Candy Cane’s Marko Neuman acted as an artistic advisor, while Sami Jormanainen returned to the engineering and mixing duties. A concept album about a drifter lost in the void, Kosmonument was released in October 2011 as a cd by Spinefarm Records and as a double vinyl album by Blackspin Music. Also a vinyl version of the debut Muukalainen puhuu was released in May 2011 by Svart Records. After the release of Kosmonument, Oranssi Pazuzu played various European festivals in 2012, including Roadburn and Hellfest. They returned home satisfied, having also met Nikos Giagoudakis, who kindly decided to start as the band’s manager. Being dropped from Spinefarm label, the band decided that it was time to move forward, and returned to writing new material with a newfound enthusiasm and freedom. Agreeing to work with Jaime Gomez Arellano, a London-based producer and engineer, Oranssi Pazuzu travelled to his Orgone Studios to record their third album in February 2013. After a succesful session with Gomez, the band finalized a new record deal with their old vinyl label Svart Records and with 20 Buck Spin for the album’s North American release. Oranssi Pazuzu’s third album is called Valonielu, and it will be released on in October 2013. Produced, recorded and mixed by Jaime Gomez Arellano, it includes six songs that rank among the band’s most ambitious yet, from the album opener Vino verso’s trance metal to the epic finale of Ympyrä on viiva tomussa. An European tour is also planned to coincide with the album’s release. Merchandise available here: www.oranssipazuzu.bigcartel.com
