Semihelix, Austin was formed in 2012 in Austin, TX. They’re dream pop/psych 90’s fuzz and delay, with melodic yet loud sounds including influences of My Bloody Valentine, The Kinks, Black Tambourine, Sebadoh, The Pixies, and Sonic Youth. The songs speak of love, resilience, overcoming hard times, systematic oppression, living in the present moment, acceptance, and gratitude.
“Shimmering, lush indie rock landscapes once similarly tread by Mazzy Star, Velocity Girl and Kimya Dawson”-Ghettoblaster Magazine. The band started with Geannie Friedman solo, using drums beats, keyboards for bass, and singing while playing guitar. There were several lineup changes throughout the years, and it is now Geannie Friedman on guitar and vocals, Valdemar Barrera on drums, and Kevin Martin on bass. Full length album "Recoil" to be released November 2021.
