Tickets available locally at Recycled Records & Higher Elevation Smoke Shop(Incline Village)Bio:In a career spanning 15 years, Morgan has released five studio albums and a live recording from his hometown of Flint, Michigan. Additionally, he has toured relentlessly averaging over 125 shows annually. Rolling Stone has described him as a Waylon Jennings acolyte.. modern day outlaw [with a] hard hitting blue-collar brand of music while NPR Music hailed, Staying close to the sound and subject matter of classic outlaw artists like Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard and David Allan Coe, Morgan is poised to lead this hand-worn brand of country to the next generation. His most recent LP, Sonic Ranch (2015), was released to critical acclaim and praised by Detroit Free Press as, a bold well-crafted album that doesnt forsake the gritty undercurrent running through Morgans stuff. Whitey Morgan and the 78s anticipated new album, self-produced by Morgan, was recorded in the Neve Room at famed Sonic Ranch Studios in Tornillo, Texas. Featured on the record are collaborations with acclaimed songwriters Travis Meadows and Ward Davis plus a cover of ZZ Tops Just Got Paid.Alongside Morgan, the 78s consist of Brett Robinson (pedal steel guitar), Joey Spina (guitar), Alex Lyon (bass) and Eric Savage (drums). Of the recording, Morgan shares, Its not like my vision happened overnight. Ive been chipping away at it forever. Its slowly evolving and its going in a little bit different direction. Its not so straightforward anymore. This record definitely has a wider path, its broader, but it still sounds like a Whitey Morgan record. With grandparents from Tennessee and Kentucky and hometown roots in Flint, Michigan, Morgans family geography has factored into his approach to music.

It was my first time seeing Whitey Morgan and the 78's and they killed it!! I'm a huge outlaw country fan and it brings me great joy to finally find someone carrying the torch for Waylon, Willie, Hank Jr., The Hag, Cash, etc. I'm now a lifelong fan of his for sure. I got to talk to Whitey for a bit before the show and he was a real down-to-earth dude. He brought a huge BBQ with them and then did all the cooking for us and then served it himself. The food was great. Whitey was great to talk to and the music was even better!

Whitey Morgan and the 78's Biography

Whitey Morgan and the 78’s

Whitey Morgan is an American Honky Tonk artist from Flint, Michigan.

In Flint, the factories are closed, jobs are scarce and the people are bitter. Whitey sings songs these people can relate to. In much the same way his grandfather and mentor did over 3 decades ago, to a whole generation of southern transplants who came up US-23 to Flint looking for the good life. In the spirit of William Morgan, Waylon, Merle and Paycheck; Whitey’s melodies help people forget their problems for a few hours and serve as the guideline for drinking sorrows away.

Emerging from the Detroit area music scene, Whitey relentlessly tours the country spreading his sound and attitude everywhere he goes. He play's honky tonk tunes in any club in any town without apology—he and his band mates drive their point home just like their families drove the cars they built on the line home from work. With a purpose.

Ripping 200+ shows a year, you can count on Whitey Morgan to deliver and then some. "If I could, I'd play everyday all day. Maybe at some point, I'll be so lucky to have such an option." If you asked his feverishly loyal audience, they'd firm agree with him. "My fans are nothing short of amazing. They come back time and time again and each time they bring more & more people. That's as good as it gets in my book."

and more, but at this point you are tired of reading this shit.
