About this concert
The Palladium Club welcomes 3 amazing back to North Devon this May. JollyRoger, Sweetchunks Band and Brian Stone and the Masters of None Tickets - £10.00adv - £15.00otd JollyRoger - Cornish sea-punk folk band JollyRoger fall somewhere between the sound of The Dropkick Murphys and Levellers. Inspired by the sea and growing up in the pirate haven of Penzance, they use nautical metaphors and pirate history to speak out about mental health issues and also the better things in life, like drinking beer. JollyRoger explodes with energy on stage and are an eclectic mix of shanty vibes, humour, and Celtic punk. Equipt with zero previous experience in the music industry, JollyRoger sailed cluelessly into the southwest music scene in 2019 with a do-or-die attitude and a mission to one day shout ?scream for me Download? to a bunch of metalheads and they are prepared to do what it takes. So this underdog band decided to work their cannonballs off and learn the ropes as they went. Their Lady of the Sea, Samantha Hannah, embarked on an MA in Music Business and is currently managing the band. Inspired by the comedy of Tenacious D & the stage presence and energy of Foo Fighters, Royal Republic, Electric Six & The Hives; being a pirate band hasn?t stopped JollyRoger getting on major UK Festival line ups such as Glastonbury Festival 2022, Bearded Theory?s Spring Gathering, Boardmasters Festival, Balter Festival, Lindisfarne Festival & being asked to support some of the top bands in the folk & punk genres including The Rumjacks, Ferocious Dog & Subhumans. JollyRoger are well established in the UK?s South West Music scene and put on sell out shows at grassroots venues. They have played gigs with old time favourites Fisherman?s Friends & The Wurzels, along with supporting British folk rock, pop, gypsy jazz, bluegrass ?shake your ass? band Mad Dog Mcrea. The pirates have built up a loyal fanbase & community across their socials (you are welcome aboard!), have played live on air on local BBC Radios & have featured on international radio stations and pirate magazines worldwide and played over 500 gigs in the 4 years they have been together ? despite the pandemic. Sweetchunks Band - The Sweetchunks band is a three piece (sometimes four piece, if our violin player has escaped the clutches of the law) comedy folk band from Hampshire. Celebrating their tenth year of gallivanting around the country playing drinking music (that?s comedy folk music to normal people) with a raucous and unique set of hilarious originals that have been described as witty, original and hilariously funny. The Sweetchunks Band are a fun and energetic addition to any festival. With a loyal following of nutters they fill any tent or stage with their mobile party. It?s like the venga bus..but drunk and with banjos. Brian Stone and the Masters of None - Rollicking, rousing, original, singalong pirate folk and gentle tales.

JollyRoger Biography

JollyRoger have an exciting sound which falls into the folk punk genre but gives our Celtic nation of Cornwall a foot into the mix; for the first time, they are defining CORNISH FOLK PUNK - with a pirate edge (as they come from Penzance).

JollyRoger have been going for 5 years now, starting with zero experience or knowledge of the music industry or even playing live! In that time they have built their own DIY tours of Europe, played major UK Festivals including Glastonbury, Boomtown and Bearded Theory and have supported the likes of The Rumjacks, Ferocious Dog and Subhumans.

Current plans are writing and recording their second album then taking over the world DIY style.
