About this concert
Tickets available locally at Smith Rock Records & Higher Elevation Smokers GalleryBio:Legendary SoCal artists (HED) P.E. have been breaking rules and going against the grain for more than two decades. While the world becomes increasingly more black and white, (HEDP) P.E defiantly stands in opposition and refuses to be characterized as anything more than chaotic. On their 11th studio album, DETOX, (HED) P.E. celebrate the musical fusion between punk rock, hip hop, jazz, reggae, heavy metal, and thrash. This new record was written as a response to living in chaotic times. The repercussions of the pandemic, my new baby girl was born during that time, dealing a rebellious skater for a teenager, dealing with the politics of music industry, and balancing all that it all while still trying to get laid, laughs frontman Jared Gomes when asked about the inspiration behind the new album. He continues, The record is titled DETOX because I found myself in a pool of red wine trying to figure everything out with all these chemicals floating through my brain. There was a moment where I just had to be honest with myself and confront the skeletons that had been building up in the closet. That raw, brutal, honesty forced Gomes and the band to embrace their brash and offensive past and double down on it as a direct response to the current cancel climate. Where albums like 2005s Only in Amerika was an intentional backlash against the more commercial radio-friendly sound of prior albums, DETOX is a giant middle finger in the face to a woke generation that tries to cancel everything. The album opens with a scream and then takes a swan dive right into the deep end of the rapcore that has become synonymous with (HED) P.E. The Alice in Chains inspired Too Late brings back a modern rock sound and couples it with a gritty rap vocal stylings, and then shifts gears to embrace their nu-metal roots on Compromise with some outlandish rap vocals that deliver (HED) P.Es mission statement condemning facism and hate.Recorded at Gomes home studio in Idaho with producer/songwriter Remy Dovianus tapped into the G-Punk vein of previous albums as they harness the chaotic energy and all the elements of the (HED) P.E. sound. The album brought me to tears a few times actually, Gomes remembers. Writing about family life and the struggles of the pandemic gets to me sometimes. After some self-reflection I was able to get back to what makes (HED) P.E.so unique. This just feels like a return to the vibe that got me here in the first place. The album was mixed and mastered by Ulrich Wild (Static-X, White Zombie, Deftones) who embraced raw aggression, braggadocious hip-hop and unfiltered hardcore somehow made it all sound seamless. This album is a return to the G-Punk sound (Hed) P.E fans know and love, said Gomes. Im rapping more on this album, its heavier and I found inspiration to write some dirty lyrics. This one is really giving the people what theyve been asking for, without compromising any artistic integrity.

Wally's did it again with an awesome line-up of bands. I had no idea who they were, except for Sumo Cyco. There was a lot of energy and a ton of fans. The best part of a live performance is hearing the crowd singing along with group. Wally's is great for providing each band with space to sell merch and just hang out with people. What's better than buying your favorite drummer a shot of tequila. (hed)p.e. put on a great show and really gave the fans everything they had. I'm all about supporting the artists so I picked up a signed bandana from Nathan Javier. The gratitude and appreciation he gave me makes going to these concerts worth it.

(hed) p.e. Biography

Legendary SoCal artists (HED) P.E. have revealed details for their upcoming “Sandmine” EP”, set for release on July 23rd, 2021 via Suburban Noize Records. (HED) P.E. will commemorate the new release by hitting the road starting July 23rd in Las Vegas, NV for a month-long headlining tour. The tour will also mark the first time the band performed tracks off their critically acclaimed twelfth-studio, "Class of 2020", which was released last year.

"After the success of 'Class of 2020', we wanted to give the fans more of what they wanted! The pandemic, the election, the reaction, the pending birth of my daughter...all these experiences fueled the inspiration for Sandmine. The title itself names a brutal place where only the strong survive and few are able to escape,” comments frontman Jared Gomes. "On 'Class of 2020' we went back to our roots with the back-to-basics approach; but on this one we mixed all those elements together with our signature G-Punk sound and a pissed off ‘Sandmine’ was born. I cannot wait for the world to hear this one."

Recorded at Gomes home studio in Idaho, the seeds of "Sandmine" were triggered by producer/songwriter Remy Dovianus who co-wrote and co-produced the EP. Dovianus has been a lifelong (HED) P.E. fan and recorded the guitar and bass in The Netherlands with a goal of harnessing the signature sound of the band's biggest albums. Drummer Jeremiah "Trauma" Stratton laid down his drums with an emphasis complimenting the deep metallic grooves. Frontman Jared Gomes is at the top of his game and ever defiant on "Sandmine", recording vocals that draw inspiration from the raw aggression of Suicidal Tendencies and Rage Against The Machine, mixed with the unfiltered hardcore tones of Hatebreed. "Sandmine" encapsulates the old thrashiness and ferocity of early (Hed) P.E albums, weaving together a complex mixture of poignant punk-rock, brutal riffs, and bludgeoning drums that packs a walloping punch.

(HED) P.E. are the pioneers of the G-Punk sound, which fuses together punk-rock, metal, hip-hop and reggae. For over two decades, the band has toured the world alongside hard rock chart-toppers like Papa Roach and Linkin Park, hardcore legends Suicidal Tendencies, as well as the iconic Ozzfest Tour. (HED) P.E. experienced a creative resurgence after signing with Suburban Noize Records in the early 2000s and was instrumental in developing the booming underground scene.
