About this concert
Adelaide, brace yourselves for a winter warmer like no other! The Adelaide Showgrounds are gearing up to welcome back South Australia’s most loved mid-year music moment, Spin Off for its seventh edition. Friday 19 July’s forecast predicts good times for music lovers, with a lineup that’s packed with top-tier talent, from international sensations to Aussie homegrown heroes. Spin Off 2024 isn’t one to miss. This year, Spin Off is stepping up its game with not one, but two curated stages, welcoming the oh-so-familiar Sound Archive stage. Following the resounding success of the dedicated dance stage at Adelaide’s Heaps Good festival, it’s now Spin Off’s turn to host a stack of heavy-weight electronic acts.

Old Mervs Biography

Lifelong friends Henry Carrington-Jones and David House (Old Mervs) grew up together on farms outside of Kojonup, a tiny town approximately three hours south of Perth, Western Australia. As high schoolers they cleared out a stable to use as a rehearsal space for their new band, named after one of Henry’s family farm working dogs. With Henry on drums and David on guitar/vox, it was truly humble beginnings. Old Mervs are considered one of the most exciting rock acts in Australia. Breakout singles ‘Cellphone’ (2020), ‘Where I Go’ (2022), and ‘Sweetheart’ (2023) have been streamed in the millions; while their second EP, Give It Up (2023), debuted at #2 on the ARIA Australian Albums chart; and in January ‘Sweetheart’ landed at #47 in the 2023 triple j Hottest 100. The duo has supported huge international artists, including Liam Gallagher and The Wombats, as well as local heroes Spacey Jane and King Stingray. They also boast a dedicated fanbase of their own, having sold out multiple national tours and performed heroic appearances on premiere festival line-ups, including Splendour In The Grass,Groovin the Moo and Yours and Owls. They’re set to play the biggest shows of their career in 2024, when they embark on their ‘How The Fark Are Ya?’ tour across Australia and New Zealand, this August and September.
