Multi-award-winning, Billboard-charting saxophonist, Mike Flanagan, makes his Scullers debut alongside Lauren Scales (runner-up in the Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition and alum of Betty Carter Jazz Ahead) and Chris Grasso (Nicki Parrott, Houston Persons, Sharon Clark). The trio embarked on an inaugural 6-city tour in winter of 2023, hitting Boston, Rhode Island, CT, NYC, DC, and Palm Springs, solidifying them as a jazz collective. They just recorded their debut album, Many Rivers, which features Luques Curtis on bass, Richie Barshay on drums, and a guest slot from Steve Davis on trombone. Mike, Lauren, and Chris will be previewing music from the forthcoming album in their Scullers show, joined by Barshay on drums, and John Lockwood on bass. All GA sections (Main Floor GA & Miles Davis Mezzanine) will be seated by host and are first come, first served (other than where a reserved sign is posted to table). If you require special seating, please call the venue for accommodations no later than 48 hours prior to show date.Please note: If you do not purchase all seats at a table, other customers may be seated with you.Our new pre-show reception, Mix, Mingle and Groove, offered before the 7pm show, includes a variety of appetizers, carving board and an assortment of desserts. Mix, Mingle and Groove reception is from 5:15pm until 6:30pm on show nights only, in the Boathouse 400 restaurant, on the 2nd floor of the hotel. $60 includes all of the above, plus 18% gratuity, state and local taxes and validated parking while enjoying the reception and show.If you purchase the pre-show reception with your tickets, the pre-show reception is in the Boathouse 400 restaurant from 5:15pm to 6:30pm. The Boathouse 400 restaurant is on the 2nd floor of the hotel and Scullers Jazz Club is on the lobby level of the hotel.ALL TICKETS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE AND NON-EXCHANGEABLE.

Chris Grasso Biography

Chris Grasso is a Washington, D.C.-based jazz pianist who specializes in working with vocalists. Chris has performed with Keter Betts, Carmen Bradford, Kenny Garrett, Nicole Henry, Buck Hill, Marlon and Stephanie Jordan, Nicki Parrott, Ken Peplowski, Bucky Pizzarelli, Chuck Redd, Joshua Redman, Avery Sharpe, Suede, Denise Thimes, Frank Vignola, Bobby Watson, Cassandra Wilson, Matt Wilson and more. He has appeared at leading venues including Jazz at Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center, Blues Alley, Bohemian Caverns, the Iridium, the Metropolitan Room, and the Music Center at Strathmore, as well as festivals in the U.S. and overseas.
Chris serves as Music Director for D.C.'s most in-demand jazz singer, the incomparable Sharón Clark. They have appeared together on many stages, from the National Mall to the Kennedy Center, and have received rave reviews from the New York Times, Wall Street Journal and JazzTimes.

Prior to pursuing a career in jazz, Chris studied classical piano at the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore and the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, where he earned a Bachelor of Musical Arts degree and won the university's concerto competition. He also placed third in the National Chopin Competition and has appeared as a concerto soloist with the University of Michigan Philharmonic and the Syracuse Symphony. After college, he took an eight-year break from music, working as a journalist, earning a law degree from the University of California-Berkeley and practicing law in Washington D.C.
