Balancing Act Biography
Becoming quickly renowned for their charged live shows and all round electric sound, Balancing Act’s recent debut headline tour saw them sell out their dates at London’s Oslo and Manchester’s Deaf Institute, before heading to Bristol and Birmingham for the first time. This tour was one of many 2023 successes on the live side – the year opened with sold out headlines at London's Lower Third and Manchester's YES Basement, before they performed for The Close Encounter Club.
Self-described as “Dark, Sexy, and Sick”, Balancing Act can be more officially affiliated with the world of alternative rock. Dynamic and atmospheric, the 3 singles this year have marked a turn towards sonic grandeur and maturity, and the band have been gradually settling into a wider scale, cinematic delivery which suits them well.
Balancing Act are looking into the year ahead with plans to expand all sides – from live, to studio, to their community of fans. With live shows and new music both in the works for 2024, their trajectory only widens, with their prospects now set on bringing their goods to the masses.
Kai Roberts (vocals) and Jackson Couzens (guitar) first met in Manchester whilst working on separate projects. After packing up and moving to London, they joined forces with George Le Page (drums) and David Carpenter (bass), forming the now settled quartet.
“[...] That in turn is gonna make them an incredibly exciting prospect and also allow them to connect with people in a deeper way, and potentially be the new generation’s favourite band”
Jack Saunders, Radio 1’s ‘Future Artists’
"Balancing Act's rapidly-expanding discography speaks to a desire to modernize and refresh the annals of indie rock"
DIY
“Balancing Act feel like a breath of fresh air in a saturated genre, bringing something hugely exciting back to indie music”
