Disfreq Biography

“Daft Punk meets 303” - Charlotte de Witte 2022

“Leading the next generation of how to produce club music properly” - Danny Howard 2022

2023 has started strong for Donegal brothers Disfreq with a 6 track mini album, released on Solomun’s Diynamic imprint as part of the highly respected ‘Picture Series’. The mini album has received lots of support including an Essential New Tune from Pete Tong as well as a Track ID from Sarah Story. This follows on from a string of lauded releases on the likes of Trick, Kneaded Pains, Arcane and Armada which has acquired Disfreq 3 Track Id’s and an Essential New Tune in the short space of 16 months.

Disfreq have carved out a reputation as one of the most exciting young duos in dance music. Their music has been supported by the likes of Solomun, Adam Beyer, Joseph Capriati, Tale of Us, Jamie Jones, Adriatique, Camelphat, Andrea Oliva, Patrick Topping, Eli Brown, Rebuke, Deborah De Luca, Hi-Lo, Boys Noize, Dubfire, Innella, Wade among others. Their previous Diynamic release 'Essa Mina' has garnered over one million Spotify streams and remains a firm set favourite for Solomun to this day, while also seeing enormous success on his label. The title tracks from their ‘All My Friends’ and ‘Gotta Be Big’ EPs were also both featured as two of the best-selling Beatport techno tracks in 2021 and 2022 respectively.

Originating from Donegal in Ireland, Disfreq cut their teeth in Belfast’s thriving club scene, inspired by raves thrown at the city's legendary venues such as Shine, Telegraph Building, Limelight and more. It wasn’t long before the duo found themselves on lineups of their own, selling out shows in Belfast, leading onto sets at DC10, Amnesia in Ibiza, Poland, Bulgaria, and the Diynamic showcase supporting Solomun at Printworks. The duo have continued to build memorable events in the house and techno scene, whilst building an ever-growing following of loyal fans along the way.

In the studio, Disfreq are prolific! From an early age they became besotted with a shared passion for hard-edged 90’s progressive house, trance and techno. As a result, their own productions are as devoted to their inspiration as they are infectious. The duo’s signature club-ready productions tread the line carefully between the genres, pulling them into the 21st century with a well rounded cohesive sound that feels truly theirs.

Whether it’s their captivating DJ sets or unique productions, it’s clear that the imagination and determination of this brotherly duo has thrusted them on a sure path to cementing their names amongst dance music elite and beyond.
