Scatterback Biography

Scatterback’s lineup of guitarist Alex, bass player Keir and drummer Anthony creates a powerful musical cocktail of hard rock with a funk twist on the side. Hailing from Perth, Western Australia, the band’s mission is to create an atmosphere of excitement for their fans by serving up a mix of catchy riffs, sweet and mesmerising bass lines and a beat to move you, body and soul.
“On their debut single One Way World, Western Australia-based outfit Scatterback deliver a dynamic slice of genre-bending brilliance…with deeply infectious bass lines, crunching guitars, and dynamic vocal hooks, One Way World is bursting at the seams with pure sonic energy.” - Happy Mag, June 2019
There are some bands that are always guaranteed to put a smile on your face – either through their music, their live performances, or even better – through both. Perth’s own Scatterback do exactly that. They are a band that don’t take themselves seriously and love to have fun, and that attitude seeps through everything they touch, weaving a path to all around them.
Their latest release, Prime Sold is everything and more that we’ve started to expect from them. It’s funky, rhythmic and with undertones of bands of old, getting you tapping your toes and singing along before you know it.
It’s also a song that you just know will be even better live, so have a listen and prep yourself before Friday night’s show at Indian Ocean Hotel. Just make sure you bring your dancing shoes.

With their heady mix of fun, funk and hard rock led the way with songs like ‘Fun(k) House’ and ‘One Way World’ showing why these guys are essential live viewing. It’s not often you feel you’ve got your money’s worth after the first act but tonight was just one of those nights with the band the best I’ve seen them since catching them in full flight at Merriwa a while back. Tonight they’re sharp as a tack and cool as a funky cucumber.
