Alonzo Demetrius Biography
Alonzo Demetrius [Ryan Jr.] is a versatile artist hailing from California and raised in New Jersey. He is a trumpeter, composer, bandleader, and vocalist. Alonzo holds a bachelor's degree in music from the Berklee College of Music and completed his master's at the Berklee Global Jazz Institute Master's Program in 2019.
Currently based in Los Angeles, he performs across the US with his band, The Ego, and collaborates with renowned artists like Stevie Wonder, Mumford and Sons, Ripe, BrassTracks, Julius Rodriguez, Terri Lyne Carrington, and Amina Figarova. Alonzo is known for his diverse talents, composing music for commercials, video games, and more. He has appeared in an NPR @home session with his band and a Tiny Desk session with Julius Rodriguez, was featured in Downbeat magazine (2020), and his debut album, Live From the Prison Nation, received critical acclaim. Looking ahead, he aims to expand his musical horizons by incorporating vocals in his upcoming sophomore album slated for release in 2024-25.
