About this concert
SilverMoon presents; Fair Weather Son open up their silvery songbook for a special full-band (almost) hometown show at the bluest moon in Cambridge. Fresh off the catchy-as-all-hell '38 Years', expect lots of singable melodies and oodles of Gibson ES-335. https://www.facebook.com/fairweatherson/ - https://www.instagram.com/fairweatherson/ 38 Years - https://open.spotify.com/track/492oOn317VIA6BGByid0dy?si=c4289f31e91e41e2 Support comes from Takeda, owners of Norwich's fuzziest acoustic guitar, with the kind of in-song dynamics that make mastering engineers quiver in fear. Their tune 'California' proves that you can write intelligent, emotional songs about the bear state without being Anthony Kiedis. https://www.facebook.com/takedamusic - https://www.instagram.com/takeda_band/ California - https://open.spotify.com/track/3LYH1XKVP0tOhDqtDznHod?si=8e3f0c02b888480d And further support from Grace Wells, songwriter supreme with a sound that belies just one person/guitar. Check out the latest track 'Siouxsie', powerful and minimal. https://www.facebook.com/gracewellsmusic/ - https://www.instagram.com/gracewellsmusic/ https://open.spotify.com/track/72JFFBGIi5WhMm42wGYAuN?si=fa58966a35e9425f Doors: 19:30 £7 Advance Tickets Cash & Card Payment accepted OTD --- The Blue Moon is an inclusive space for people from all backgrounds; our venue is accessible by wheelchair and our gigs are for music lovers not people haters. Fair Weather Son Biography

Fair Weather Son (Mark Ellis) is a UK Singer Songwriter who has been writing and performing for over 10 years. During his time as a solo artist Mark has written and performed with likes of The Subways, Grant Nicholas (Feeder), Eddi Reader and Boo Hewerdine. It was while writing with Boo Hewerdine one of the UK’s most revered songwriters that Mark truly began to sharpen his songwriting skills. Looking for a new challenge and armed with new songs Mark then went on to form a new duo with his friend and amazing singer Ellie called Elma.

After two years of writing and gigging Elma released their debut album Dreamland in 2018 to high acclaim! Dreamland was well received across the media with Tom Robinson at BBC 6 describing their debut single September as “beautiful”, BBC Scotland’s Roddy Hart described the album Dreamland as “finely crafted retro pop” and RnR Magazine said Elma was “A quality duo capable of truly great things”. Not long after the release of Dreamland Elma secured a support tour supporting the legendary Roy Wood (ELO, Wizzard) and also began conversations with BMG Music. Shortly after the Roy Wood tour Elma split but BMG were still keen to work with Mark as he was the main writer and driving force behind Elma. This led to Mark securing a publishing deal with BMG Music as a songwriter but what next?!

Fast forward to 2020 and we all know what happened there. Like many artists Mark turned to his music to find comfort and vent his frustrations. This would lead his first solo release in years, the Fair Weather Son EP. Lead single This Thing Is Better received lots of radio play on local radio stations and this attention would eventually led to Mark playing solo shows again as things began to open up after lockdown.

After taking some time to find his feet again Mark will be returning as Fair Weather Son with a new EP to be released autumn 2023 with lead single Ride Along coming out on May 5th.
