Hickey Biography

"Others maintained the genre, HICKEY evolved it." Others have said it and I believe it. Were they geniuses? Loadies on a socio-political sarcasm-laced guitar based rampage? Leaders of a Naked Cult out to take down the man in all his evil incarnations? Guys just like us? Depends on who you talk to. Founding members Matty Luv (guitar) and Aesop (drums) moved to california from florida after the break up of their previous band, The Fuckboyz. Shortly after their arrival they formed Hickey after recruiting Bass player Chubby who had previously been in Schleprock. Later Dwight Trash came on as a bass player and only Holly knows where he came from and possibly where he went to.

Thankfully Probe Records and a host of others were around to document them while they were around. Between 1994 and 1997 Hickey released one self titled full length, three 7"s ("Us vs. Them", "Art, Messianism, & Crime" and "Gaia"), four split 7"s (with Fuckface, All You Can Eat, Voodoo Glow Skulls (sorta) and VBF), appeard on a slew of comps (too many to mention) and released a CD called "Various States of Disrepair" that collects many of the singles and comps tracks. All of these are currently out of print. 1-2-3-4 Go! Records (www.1234gorecords.com) is re-releasing the S/T full length (available now!) and the "Various States of Disrepair" CD as well as releasing a second volume collecting the tracks that were left off as well as several songs that were never released.
