Join us for an epic night of connection, community, and a Rise & Festival Festival pre-party featuring our very own favorites The Copper Children, along with the epic artists Free Creatures all the way from Portland, Oregon on May 3rd at the Velvet Elk in Boulder! Bangin’ beats and harmonic hooks with a message will have you moving and grooving through the great vibes all across the dance floor. The Copper Children are a unique blend of styles and influences that span from the choral sounds of American gospel music to the psychedelic acid jam fueled sounds of the 60s. Live they take you into your heart space, conjuring the spirit of unity, freedom, silliness, and love, with harmonies and rhythms that remind us of our shared humanity. Free Creatures fuse alt hip hop, psych rock and EDM with mindful lyrics and moments of playful improvisation. The trio features emcee & producer Marv Ellis remixing original beats on an MPC live while rapping and freestyling in his beloved and charismatic style. Marv is joined by the smooth, sweet, feminine swagger of upright bassist and singer Emily Turner, and the riveting soul effects of intentional riffs and mind-bending solos from electric guitar wizard Skyler Squglio.
