Explore the depths of Americana "one trippy tune at a time" with upstate New York’s Slambovian Circus of Dreams at the Shea Theater Arts Center, on Friday, April 26th at 8 pm. Voted "Best Band" by NY’s Chronogram Magazine for their rootsy rockin’ psychedelia, the Slambovians' connection with audiences and exciting live shows are legendary. Gearing up for a June tour of the UK and celebrating the 25th Anniversary of their debut album "A Good Thief Tips His Hat,”* the band digs deep into their catalog for Friday's show. Their latest release, “A Very Unusual Head” is considered by UK’s Rock’n’Reel Magazine to be "Their finest work to date."
Woodstock-tinged Americana delivers a hint of southern rock, eclectic British folk vibes with solid songwriting - a slice of Americana pie that is irresistible!
Joziah Longo (resident shaman of Slambovia) leads with a voice described as "soothing and bewitching as a snake oil tonic.” Longtime bandmates Tink Lloyd (accordion, cello, flute) and guitarist/mandolin wizard Sharkey McEwen bring their own magic to the Slambovian brew with “a little help from their friends”, boy-wonder RJ McCarty (keys/banjo/bass) and Matthew Abourezk (drums).
*"Good Thief" was voted "Album of the Year" in Rhythm & News Readers Poll 2000, described as "Eerie yet jovial" and picked as one of the "Best Albums of 1999" by Mixx Magazine.
SOUNDS LIKE: Dylan, Bowie, Syd Barrett, Tom Petty, The Band can be heard yet the Slambovians' music and critically acclaimed songs stand on their own.
“Longo is an awesome songwriter” – Garth Hudson, The Band
"Great songs and a whole lotta heart" – Sirius diSorDer, SiriusXM
“Simply one of the finest American bands” – All Music
"The best band since the Beatles" – Jim Pons, bassist: Frank Zappa, John Lennon / Plastic Ono Band
