The Vanrays
With soulful vocals, deep grooves, punchy horns and memorable melodies The Vanrays take Motown from East Van to a stage near you. Formed in 2016 around a collective love of soul and R&B classics, the Vanrays are a group of Vancouver music scene veterans who’ve played in such bands as Swank, Polly, The Beladeans, Circus in Flames and 64 Funnycars. SHAG the Band
SHAG the Band is Vancouver's Neo-Glitter Party Rock Band. Fans are encouraged to dress up in their wildest finery and party with their finest wildery. Rock and roll for Rocky Horror fans, burners, Cosplay Kamikazes, fans of leather, latex, spandex, glitter and glam. So who are these Vanrays? What is this gritty #EastVanSoul all about?
It's a Motown beat down in a shark skin suit.
It's wailing like its gospel while they're laying in the boots.
It's a curb stomping rhythm on the corner of control.
It's a nod in the direction, when all the shoes had leather souls.
And to when those shoes were twisting, to Otis and to James.
And so now do, The Vanrays too, we are here to do the same.
Formed in East Vancouver, Canada in 2016 by musicians with a shared love of Soul and R&B classics, members of The Vanrays have played in Swank, Polly, The Beladeans, and Circus in Flames. They keep venues packed thanks to energetic and gritty performances with soulful vocals, deep grooves, punchy horns and memorable melodies. Their most recent LP, Put It Out, Was released in February 2023 following their self-titled EP in 2019.
