Tapping into the same unstoppable combination of rock n roll energy and showmanship that fueled THE MC5 in the heyday of the Grande Ballroom, their wild live show is heavily influenced by artists like JAMES BROWN, IGGY POP, JIMI HENDRIX, LITTLE RICHARD, and THE SONICS. Singer/guitarist Pat Beers and drummer Lety Beers formed the band in San Diego in 2009 and have worked tirelessly since then, playing hundreds of shows around the globe. In 2013 they were recruited as the backing/opening band for EL VEZ, which helped the band make a name for itself in Europe. Since then, theyve played in numerous countries, and supported tours by like-minded acts like ROCKET FROM THE CRYPT, LITTLE BARRIE, THE WOGGLES and have opened for the DAMNED, DEVO, HIVES and CAGE THE ELEPHANT. Shindig magazine described their live show Like watching some insane hybrid of WAYNE KRAMER, JAMES BROWN, and the Tazmanian Devil.JONNY MANAK AND THE DEPRESSIVESJM roll influences from the 50s, 60s and 70s. There are elements of surf rock, punk and garage rock littered throughout their songs. Jonny has played guitar, bass or drums in bands such as The Cliftons, Clay Wheels, Fang, Texas Thieves, The Forgotten, The Odd Numbers, The Resistoleros and a ton of other bands youll never hear of. Influences include Chuck Berry, Dead Boys, Dick Dale, Link Wray, Little Richard, The Sonics, The Rolling Stones, Iggy and The Stooges, David Bowie, The Ramones, Johnny Thunders, bla, bla, bla, bla... The Depressives have played shows throughout the Northwest and Europe. since 2006, theyve released 5 full length albums on CD, Vinyl, Cassette and Digitally. The band has played hundreds of shows at clubs, skateparks and outdoor festivals. Their songs have been used in skateboard, snow board and surfing videos, Verizon vcast videos, as well as song placements in TV shows aired on MTV (Viva La Bam, Home Wreckers, Nitro Circus, Fantasy Factory, Maui Fever, The Dudesons), Fuel TV (Vans Protech Pool Party) and Fuse TV. Needless to say, their music is getting out there.
