As We Speak

As We Speak is a band from the Antwerp province. As We Speak plays metalcore, with a dash of hardcore and melodies mixed in. What do you want with influences like As I Lay Dying, Unearth, Dead Lock, All That Remains, ... They haven’t been mentioned as the Belgian Heaven Shall Burn for nothing. Since 2010 Niels Eggenhuizen (guitar), Xavier Smeulders (bass) and Nils Jensen (drums) have been rehearsing together. In the spring of 2011, Michael Cornelissen (vocals) joined them. After 1,5 years rehearsing and performing in this setup, the band found what it needed, a second guitarist. Robin Boogaerts (guitar) came to reinforce them. Unfortunately Robin took leave in the summer of 2014 due to other pursuits. In 2015 Glenn Wouters (In Clear Sight) joined the ranks. In August 2016 As We Speak parted ways with founding member Xavier. On October 27, 2012 As We Speak released a first demo. About a year later, the band decided it was time for new songs and they begin to write for a first album. In August 2014 they went to the Penthouse Studio to record it. The music already brought As We Speak to several Flemish stages, from the Campine to West Flanders, and even some stages in the neighboring Netherlands.
