The Stinkfoot Orchestra featuring Zappa Alumni Biography
The Stinkfoot Orchestra is a 14-piece tribute to Frank Zappa fronted at different times by Zappa alumni Napoleon Murphy Brock, Ray White and Ike Willis. Based in San Jose, California, the ensemble was first formed by Nick Chargin in early 2019 with the intent of playing a handful of shows at the end of 2020 in celebration of what would have been Frank’s 80th birthday. Obviously, the Covid-19 pandemic squashed any plans to celebrate in the winter of 2020, but the band, who had it’s first show in September of 2021, began taking the ensemble out on the road in 2022.
Employing a 6-piece horn section, 4 vocalists, tuned percussion, on-stage vignettes and audience participation, The Stinkfoot Orchestra brings 2 full sets of Zappa’s music to the stage – covering a wide variety of material with which few other tribute bands can contend. And, with the iconic familiaririty of Napoleon's and Ike's unmistakable voices leading the ensemble, the band is a tour de force that leaves even the most critical Zappa fan pining for more.
