Rod Coote is an Australian singer-songwriter who shares warm modern indie folk songs, blendin a warm atmospheric bed of acoustic instrumentation with heartfelt storytelling that naturally continues to connect with the hearts & minds across the globe.Based in Melbourne, Rod experienced a tranquil youth growing up in the Australian countryside surrounded by nature nestled in his NSW hometown of Manilla. His early years were spent busking live in Byron Bay, Tamworth, Melbourne, Newcastle before going on to play live shows in major cities.His sophomore EP ‘Where Rivers Meet The Sea' was inspired by his sea change experience moving from the Australian countryside to coastline. Rod Coote is an Australian indie-folk singer & songwriter who blends his honest, heartfelt lyrics with the strings of an acoustic guitar and intertwined with a soft bed of vocal harmonies. From this, Rod has established his unique dreamy indie-folk/pop sound that has naturally connected with listeners both in Australia and internationally across the globe.
After pairing up with folk producer & artist Garrett Kato, Rod's latest release 'Easy to Love' received national airplay on both Australian radio stations Triple J and on Triple J Unearthed, with host Nkechi Anele confessing his heartfelt lyrics 'makes your heart crumble into a thousand pieces", comparing his dreamy indie-folk sound to the similar likes of Ben Howard, Bon Iver & Dustin Tebbutt.
His latest single 'Wild Pine', is a sentimental, stripped back song he cathartically wrote following the sudden passing of his beloved grandfather & captures the raw feeling of losing someone loved. The song premiered on TheMusic.Com and is set to feature in playlists by Alexrainbird, Indie Folk Central and APEIRON.
