L A V I E R Biography

Lavier is an ever-evolving multi-genre bass music producer creating gossamer, temporal compositions that range from dubstep and trap, to melodic beats and lo-fi. A skilled musician, Lavier got his start with piano and guitar starting at the age of 7, and played in several bands throughout high school. Music production came about later. Lavier wasn’t particularly interested in electronic music until a friend showed him artists that would stir him to begin producing his complex sound. Countless hours of delving into the sounds of underground bass music influence his heavier cuts, while his years spent playing the guitar fuel his jazz-influenced melodic music. This is dichotomous to his off-kilter bass music, which has drawn comparisons to inspirations like Ivy Lab and Flying Lotus.

Playing jazz guitar, mixing and mastering songs, producing music, and doing graphic design is all in a day’s work for this hands-on artist. A multi-faceted musician, Lavier has released music on More Creativity Records, and was featured on Sine Wave Surfers and Saint Audio. The Pittsburgh native has shared the decks with a wide variety of artists, playing shows with DMVU, SoDown, Brightside, EazyBaked, QUIX, Danny Grooves, and the Undergrowth collective. Lavier co-founded a collective called Less Than Family, which supports the music of other up-and-coming beat makers making noise in the scene. Together with the Less Than Family team, Lavier threw events in North Carolina’s rising electronic music community. Lavier’s DIY spirit shines through in his work and performances—a spirit that is becoming a rarity in a sea of jaded creators. Having played over 200 shows, Lavier still finds time to experiment in his craft. He shares that “Playing shows is just as fun as making music for me. And with the musical background, it's equally as fun to write the music as it is to produce. The whole thing, from top to bottom, brings me a lot of joy.”
