Gemma Gates

Gemma Gates is an Irish-born singer-songwriter currently based in Leeds, UK. With influences from artists like Laura Marling and the Staves, Gemma's songwriting explores alternative perspectives on the folk traditions of her birthplace. With a focus on bold melodies, rich harmonies and personal lyricism, Gemma offers a unique and intimate perspective on the indie-folk genre. Gemma was one of the finalists being considered to receive a 'Danny' at the Celtic Connections Festival 2024, where she performed at the DKOS Stage at the Royal Glasgow Concert Hall earlier this year. Gemma will joined by Felix Bertulis-Webb (piano), Joe Wilkes (Double Bass) and Jenni Baillie (Violin) for this Sheffield leg of her UK Tour following the release of her Debut EP. Come along for an afternoon of warm, captivating music shared with her talented band and friends! Support comes from the wonderful Katie Billes, a talented songwriter hailing from Edinburgh and based in Leeds. This is a free event, no tickets are required.
