AONIA Biography

Aonia is currently recording their debut album at Black Carrot Studios, set for release in early 2018. They released a single, "Violet Hours" (mastered at Supanova Studios, Doncaster) from the album on 18/11/17. The 'B-side' is a live version of "Prophecy of the Fallen Kingdom" from the band's 2011 release, "City of Shadows." Vocalists Joanne and Mel are featured on the most recent two Blaze Bayley releases, and the band has been climbing the heavy metal ladder. Recent support slots include heavy metal legends such as Blaze Bayley, Leaves' Eyes, Xandria, Sirenia, Kobra and the Lotus, Skyclad, Forever Never, and Warrior Soul. Aonia released their second EP, 'Sunchaser', on July 25th, 2014. Having recently added Joanne, another operatically trained vocalist, to the lineup, along with Tim on keys gave more depth and created an intricate tapestry of sound. Building on the successes of the band’s 2011 release, "City of Shadows." ‘Sunchaser’ boasts a fuller and more unique tapestry of sound woven by the use of dual vocals, shredding twin guitars and full, symphonic keys. Recording and mixing work on ‘Sunchaser’ by Simon ‘Gimli’ Cliffe (Beholder, Resin, Infernal Creation) gave the recording a suitably dramatic and full sound. The band is looking forward to developing this dynamic more fully in their 2018 release. "Sunchaser" was nominated by TBFM for 'Best EP of 2014,' and it was the #9 release of 2014 on the Aii Radio 'Best of Symphonic Metal' show. Pagan Hel Reviews has this to say about "Sunchaser:" "The rhythms are punchy and bold and pursues an invigorating encounter with plenty of potently addictive hooks and sumptuous keyboard melodies. The vocals are completed to a high precision assault and very diverse, thrusting out a deep elegance and go all out to tempt and fuel the tracks with resounding urgency!” You can purchase "Sunchaser" online here - http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/aonia2 "Sunchaser" is also available in hard copy from our friends at Paradise Pretty here - http://www.paradisepretty.co.uk/licensed-band-merch/cds/aonia-sunchaser-cd Aonia has been compared to artists such as Therion, Avantasia, Nightwish, Within Temptation, Epica, ReVamp, After Forever, Leaves Eyes, Delain and Tarja.
