It’s up to all of us to find the sober individual so the entire audience can win dope prizes. “Officer” Alex Grubard administers field sobriety tests, takes testimony, and plays mind games with Philly’s premier drug-induced comedians, personalities, and other criminals. Stand-up comedian Alex Grubard pitched Weeding Out The Stoned for Five Dollar Comedy Week, where the show debuted in 2015. Then began a five-year run of Weeding Out The Stoned selling out Good Good Comedy Theatre in Philadelphia. Weeding Out The Stoned currently has a regular Friday time slot at AsylumNYC in Manhattan. Other comedy clubs, improv theaters, and cinemas around the country that Weeding Out The Stoned has packed with crowds include WFMU's Monty Hall, Helium Comedy Club PDX, ImprovBoston, The Bug Theater, Plays & Players, PhilaMOCA, Coalition Theater, Bootless Stageworks, Bull Mansion, and Jean Cocteau Cinema. Weeding Out The Stoned has been called, "endearingly absurd," by "BrooklynVegan," "highly entertaining," by "Phindie," as well as featured in Philadelphia Inquirer, Time Out New York, Denver Westward, The New York Comedy Festival, The Highlarious Comedy Festival, Wootenany Comedy Festival, and Filmadelphia. Weeding Out The Stoned is proud to have worked with local and national chapters of NORML to end cannabis prohibition by making the war on drugs look ridiculous.
