Ben Marwood Biography
Born in the same hospital where cult TV comedy Green Wing was to be shot a mere few decades later, lyrical songsmith Ben Marwood mixes pop songwriting with a generous portion of angsty anti-folk.
Signed to one of the UK’s smallest but proudest record labels, the ever-DIY Broken Tail Records, he’s gigged alongside Frank Turner, Frightened Rabbit, Pete and the Pirates, SixNationState, Glasvegas, Jetplane Landing and Chris T-T, and he’s loved every second of it. Having previously worked with Rob Bloomfield of Does It Offend You, Yeah? and electro-whizz Mr Fogg, Marwood’s debut release proper, the mini-album This Is Not What You Had Planned, was largely self-recorded and marketed on a budget of just £70, yet somehow ended up being supported by BBC Radio 1 and 2, 6Music, Artrocker and The Times.
He makes a pretty decent cup of tea.
