About this concert
Yugambeh/Gold Coast-based part-time musicians, Bootleg Rascal, have decided to be a band again, by announcing their very own curated event titled 'BOOTY BLOCK PARTY' - to be held at The Lady Hampshire, Eora/Camperdown on Saturday March 16. Inspired by angry phone calls and emails from their management, the band have agreed to actually do something, by booking 13 exciting emerging artists across two stages for a day of family friendly fun. 'BOOTY BLOCK PARTY' is set to feature the likes of Dante Knows, Lazy Ghost, Jess Reiss, King Ibis, Atlas Franklin Alexander, Sophian, Awa Mbaye and Bootleg Rascal themselves, rounding out the main stage. They'll be joined by Lyall Moloney, Chandler Jewels, MAXINE, Christian Adjeisa, Camino Gold and Malaika Mfalme, who'll grace the courtyard stage. Jimmy Young of Bootleg Rascal describes the motivation behind the event: "We've always wanted to put on our own event with a bunch of mad artists, and although the Goldy is our new home, it felt right to us to do the first one right back where the Bootleg Rascal story started… in sh*thole Sydney, dewda. Can't wait to hit the Grant Packett's and share stories of the cost-of-living crisis and unreliable public transport, with a bunch of legends who pay exorbitant rent to slumlords, so they can live on top of each other. Guess we'll play some tunes too." Additional to the live music programming, the event will also feature DJs and Carlito's Cake Stall serving up some magic treats. The mystifying 'Glory Story Hole' will also launch – a shadowy activation that will leave punters feeling uneasy, but will generate fundraising efforts for charity, with proceeds to be donated to Support Act. The 'Booty Burger', chips and beer combo will be available for $20. Bootleg Rascal are long-time collaborators and friends Carlos Lara and Jimmy Young. Since their mid-2013 inception, Bootleg Rascal have released a slew of singles, two EP's and three albums, all of which were warmly received globally by critics and fans alike. The band have traversed the globe playing sold-out headline shows in Australia, Europe, New Zealand, North America and the UK. They've also regularly appeared on major Australian festivals including Falls Festival, The Big Pineapple Festival, Lost Paradise, Hills are Alive, Festival of the Sun and Party in the Paddock. More recently, they sold 6000 tickets across their Australian and New Zealand national tours, with majority of the 17 shows selling out. The group is currently in the studio working on their forthcoming album and are about to hit the East Coast with COTERIE and South Summit, on a run of regional dates across February and March.   ON SALE NOW!
