Aaron Mitchell is an indie-western folk/country singer, songwriter and visual artist. He was born and raised in the small rural town of Ft. Lupton, Colorado, but moved to Chicago in his early twenties to live the big city life. In his younger days he was very influenced by new wave, punk, indie and alternative. However, while cutting his teeth in Chicago as a musician, ironically Aaron found himself being drawn to the sound of early country music- taking him back to his roots of growing up a city boy in a country town. After falling under the spell of artists like Hank Williams Sr., Johnny Cash, Dylan, John Prine, Townes Van Zandt and Bloodshot Records recording artists he started to carve out his own distinct sound as a songwriter. Aaron is best known for his alt-country band DIRTY GREEN, which has been active in Chicago since 2006. Coming this March he will be releasing his first official solo album, FICTIONAL LOVER! The album features an all-star lineup of players- Gerald Dowd on drums, Ryan Joseph Anderson on lead guitar and Adam Gardner on bass & keys. Come celebrate with us! The record release party will be at Fitzgeralds Side Bar Friday March 29. Aaron Mitchell and the band will be playing the album in its entirety with an opening set by the great, Gerald Dowd (solo) and an ending set by the ever so talented, Ryan Joseph Anderson (w/ band).
