About this concert
999 is an English punk rock band formed in London in December 1976. The original lineup included Nick Cash (vocals, guitar), Guy Days (lead guitar), Jon Watson (bass), and Pablo LaBritain (drums), with a few changes over the years. Known for their energetic live performances, 999 became a staple of the London punk scene, regularly performing at venues like the Hope and Anchor. They released 14 singles and 12 albums between 1978 and 2007. Five of their singles charted in the UK, with ?Homicide? breaking into the Top 40. Their albums The Biggest Prize in Sport and Concrete charted on the U.S. Billboard 200, helped by extensive U.S. touring. Despite lineup changes in the 1980s, the band continued to record and tour, gaining a reputation as one of the longest-running punk bands. Their debut single, ?I?m Alive,? and second album, Separates, are considered punk classics.

999 Biography

999 are an English punk band which formed in London in 1976. Founded by singer/guitarist Nick Cash, 999's original lineup also included Guy Days (vocals/guitar), Jon Watson (bass) and Pablo LaBritain (drums). Ed Case served temporarily as drummer following LaBritain's injury in 1978, while Watson has since been replaced by Danny Palmer (1986-1991) and former Lurkers member Arturo Bassick (1991-present).

999 became a popular act within the London punk circuit, releasing its first single ("I'm Alive") in 1977 under its own label. The band soon found chart success, attaining five top 100 UK hits under the United Artists label. However, 999's popularity began to wane in the early 1980s. 999 disbanded in the mid-1980s only to reform soon afterward. They have since released several albums and continue to tour.

999 are one of Britain's best loved punk rock bands from 1977 and who are still going strong and playing today.

From their instantly recognisable logo of the raffle ticket with the number 999 on it, to the instantly recognisable stream of pure pop punk classics like Homicide and Emergency to their high energy live act, 999 are one of punks true classic bands and guaranteed to get a crowd moving.

Along with the Ruts, 999 typified the lesser known British Punk of the late 70s. Pure energy and style and some classic tracks. "I'm Alive", "Emergency" and "Homicide" to name but three that will live long in the memory.

Also similar to the Ruts, 999 built much of their following through gigging the down and dirty venues around Southall in West London. 999 never showed the same reggae influences as the Ruts though, maintaining a 'pure punk' sound throughout. They are also still alive and well, and still gigging it hard.
