Raquel Lily Biography
Born in the Philippines, raised in New York and now entertaining Birmingham, AL, is one of the hottest musicians rising out of the growing local music scene. With a degree in Neurobiology, Physiology and Behavior from UC Davis, Lily first moved to Birmingham, a medical mecca, with a plan to pursue a medical career while doing music on the side. Her drive for music soon took over, as she worked her way from being a full time neurophysiology tech, to part time paralegal to a full time musician. “Working different jobs definitely gave me a lot of perspective,” says Lily. “Even though it wasn’t exactly what I dreamed of doing at the moment, I gained a lot of grit and learned a lot about how to run my own business.”
Lily has built a buzz beyond just Birmingham, and many of those who follow the local music scene mention her as one of those Birmingham gems that is poised to explode onto the national and international scene, opening for national acts like The All-American Rejects in 2017 and being a featured talent at TwitchCon 2017 in Long Beach, CA and headlining the Rode Microphones Stage at Vidcon 2018. She has played venues all over the country, and remains busy with a fast-growing following on Twitch and YouTube. Her music mixes R&B, jazz, pop, hip-hop, rock and funk with her superb songwriting talents.
